Oh, the dog days of summer. Everything creeps along like an old Farmall tractor, but don’t make the mistake of assuming that a small high school sports program is creeping along too.
The athletic department at Rappahannock County High School does not seem disadvantaged by either its size or its rural setting hr fact, Bob Czek^i — Athletic Director at RCHS — doesn’t see it that way at all. On die eve of Saturday s first EUfib varsity football game of the season, Czekgj took time out hum coaching one afternoon this week to talk to the Rappahannock News about the upcoming season.
Czekiy said he expects between 2025 students to suit up for the varsity football team. He thinks that this year’s team can improve over last year’s 2-8 record. “The team is working hard and getting better every day,” he said “All you can do is ask them to give their best”
There are eight returning starters from last year’s team. On the offensive line are Jeremy Diley; Nathan Grant Matt Adams and Matt Frye. There are two returning receivers - Dean Hogan and Tyler Williams - and at running back. Brook Stokes. The quarterback this year is Daniel Rollins.
