New technology is making it much easier for diabetic patients to monitor their blood sugar levels and. then take action to keep it under control.

Typically, Dr. Douglas Thrasher of Piedmont Fhmily Practice explained, patients with diabetes monitor their glucose levels through fingerstick measurements, taking samples maybe three or four times a day

The problem, he said, comes when those readings don't mesh with the patient’s glycated hemoglobin test. That test, according to the American Diabetes Association. measures the amount of glucose that has ’hooked up’ with hemoglobin over a two to three month period.
