On the other hand. landowners will now be required to thoroughly post their property with contact information, with private property not properly posted presumed open to retrieval.
Other recommendations, passed unanimously, include: improved law enforcement. better records, a standard, statewide no-hunting zone along roadways, hound identification requirements and a hunters' code of ethics.
“We have given Virginians an opportunity to preserve the tradition of hunting with hounds and addressed the legitimate concerns of landowners,” McMullin said. “Only time will tell if it turns out to be wasted opportunity.”
