Archery bear season runs statewide Oct. ll-Nov. 8, with muzzle loader bear season Nov. 11-14, General firearm season is Nov. 24Jan. 3 in selected counties.
Archery turkey season is Oct. 4-Nov. 8, with firearm turkey Oct. 25-Nov. 7 ami Dec. 1-27.
Fall turkey season is open to hens and gobblers, with many hunters using socalled “turkey dogs" to break up a tlock, then settling in to await their return. In the spring gobbler season, hunters use calls to lure courting males to them.
“Just share the woods,’ Dixon said. “That’s the best advice l can give any rider or hiker or hunter. We all love our Virginia countryside and want to keep it open."
