The Tbwn of Washington Planning Commission held its monthly meeting on Sept. 28 with council members Jeanne Butler. Jean Goodine. Mitxie Young, Steve Critaer and Carolyn Thornton attending the meeting. The continued review of tire Town of Washington s Comprehensive Plan was the only business before the commission.
This summer's drought combined with the record heat is causing pastures to stop growing, streams to dry up and orchards not to produce' at their peaks. FOr several weeks many farmers haw been feeding hay to their cattle, which usually den's not occur until late October. It will be a long, ' hard winter tor the cattle, since they an* not going to be in condition to face the cold weather coming, stud one Flint Hill farmer. Eddie Williams has been (ceding hay to his livestock for several weeks and the creeks and streams on his farm haw dried up and become stagnant pools, forcing him to water livestock from his homo well.
