with ambulance

Rappahannock Sheriffs Deputy Robbie Pincham was pulling double duty late last Friday; sitting around with other volunteers at the Washington Fire Department. Little did he and the others know that by the end of the evening they would find themselves in need of aid from another fire and rescue company in a role reversal caused by a driver alleged to be drunk.
Fincham - a volunteer with the Washington Fire & Rescue Company - along with Jonathan Bankston (an EMTi and two other younger volunteers were at the firehouse when a call came shortly alter 10 p.m. for Bobby Baldwin who had fallen 10 feet from a ladder onto a concrete floor at his home in Cad Brown Hollow in Washington.
At fcrsr however. thakywasn't the only thing Baldwin would have fbTridfure mat evening. * Fincham. a driver and Bankstoo along with Amanda Smoot and Charles Burke — still a trainee and only recently cleared to go on calls - responded to the call from Baldwin’s home.
Baldwin’s injuries were not life threatening which is why only one EMT went with the two younger members in the back of the company’s largest ambulance known as “Big Red."
The crew picked up Baldwin and were transporting him to Fauquier Hospital when the ambulance was struck by a silver 2002 Lincoln sedan just past the intersection of routes 211 and 229 at Clevenger’s Corner, according to the Culpeper County Sheriff's Office.
As Fincham recalled, the ambulance was traveling east-bound on Route 211 '‘lit up like a Christmas Tree" with lights flashing and sirens blaring.
