Rubber Mould Shows Interest In This Locality Farmville Chamber of Com merce endorsed a program to in terest manufacturers in the facili ties of the community, and in structed the industrial committee, headed by W A. W-tson. Jr . to negotiate with a firm now seek ing a location. A special commit tee was appointed to seek local investment of $50 000: form a de velopment corporation and secure financial backing of .$150,000, with which a building and site would be made available. The committee met Wednesday night and mapped out a campaign to follow out instructions of the Chamber of Commerce The company seeking a location casts rubber parts for many arti cles sold on the national market,, such as mountings for automobile and airplane engines, typewriter platens, gaskets, and many other moulded rubber pioducts large and small. Mr Watson stated that a pro )>osal would be made to furnish a 40.000 square foot building, to be amortized over a period of ten to twenty years bv a rental agreement with the manufactur ing company. It was estimated that the building and a site would cost $200,000, and that outside financial aid had been secured for $150,000, leaving $50 000 to be invested locally. Kmploymrnt Nerds It is understood that the ope ration would furnish employment, to 75 or 100 pccple, men and wo men. Other proposals of manufactur ers seeking location are under consideration by the industrial committee. Mr. Watson said Stock amounting to $30,000 was subscribed Wednesday night to form a development corporation to attract industry to Farmville. Members of the Furniville Cham ber of Commerce and business in terests made the subscriptions and committees were appointed to raise at least $20,000 more for a total of $50,000.
