That total, added to January and February construction, brings the building work in Farmville and Prince Edward county for the first quarter of 1957 to $103,534. There were 21 permits issued in the three months span. i March permits f* residential con struction were issued to George Jarrett, Farmville district, and Isaac Wilkerson and Clarence Hen dricks, Prospect district. Residential alterations and im provement permits were issued to C. H. Newman, Jr.. G. Smith and Roger Madison. Other March per mits were issued for construction of a silo in Lockett district and a small office building for Newman Chevrolet Sales Corporation, at Sec ond and South streets. A year ago. when commercial construction was at one of its high est peaks in recent years, the Janu ary-March quarter construction, for lit: permits, was valued at $325.5}:0 This included additions and altera tions at First National Bank. Buffalo Shook Company, the A and P store, Planters Bank and Trust Co., and the Spotless Store A survey of permits indicates that residential alterations, addi tions or interior improvements are growing in popularity.
