The program is a development on | a nationwide scale of the Woodrow Wilson established by Princeton j University in 1945. In 1952 it came under the more general sponsorship of the Association of Graduate Schools in the Association of Ameri can Universities and since that time the Fellowships have been under written jointly by the thirty-seven universities comprising the Associa tion of American Universities and to those whose primary interest lies by generous grants from the Car negie Corporation and the General Education Board. In the neighbor hood of two hundred Woodrow' Wil son Fellowships were awarded for the academic year of ir>.T7-'Vt. with plans for possibly a larger number in subsequent years For the pres ent. the Fellowships will be confined to those whose p run ary interests lies m the Humanities and the Social Sciences.
