Winners from 4-H contests in 16 counties in the Central Virginia 4-H <i!.-*rict will convene at Longwood College April 27 to determine the area winners. The winners of the area or dis trict contest "will represent this sec tion at VPI at the State Short Course during the week of June 24. The Farmville Chamber of Com merce will cooperate with the Vir ginia Extension Service in coordin ating the many activities of the one busy day. Longwood College will be the focal point and activities such as meal preparation, canning, bread rrik: : fro- mg food, laundry home improvpmnt. dress revue, public speaking, and egg grading will be held at the college. Other events that require special facilities will be held at other lo cation.--. Forestry, tractor driving and land judging will be held in the vicinity of the fair grounds about two miles west of Farmville on Routes 460 and 1.1. Dairy judging will be split up as folio w s: Holsieins, Jenkins Brothers: Jerseys. D. A. Gates; and Guernseys, G. W. Palmer. Sheep shearing will be conducted at the A N. Gibson farm near Darlington Heights. Beef, cattle and hogs will be judged at Staunton with other re gional winners. Each of the Herald area counties will be represented at the contest. Opening exercises will be at 10 a. m. a Jarman Audionum. Town Tag's Reminder Town tags must be on tlie car by midnight Apr 1 15. Farmville Police Chief Otto S. Overton re minded today. W. J. Gill, Jr. town treasurer said that tag numbers won ap proaching the mid 800's as of noon Monday. Last year more than 1.000 -(tags were sold.
