January 15 Is Deadline
For Filing ACP Reports
January 15, is the last day for farmers to report practices carried out under the 1350 Agricultural . Conservation Program: Reports made after that deadline will not be accepted as a basis for making cash conservation payments under the program.
That was the warning issued this week by H. S. Barksdale, chairman of the Rappahannock County Committee of the Production and Marketing Administration. He noted that only 70 per cent of the county farmers had filed 1950 ACP reports iwith the local PMA office as of December 26. About 3f61 Rappahannock farmers participated under the program during the past year.
Mr. Barksdale said that the January 15 deadline was set to permit the PMA County Committee to make final disbursement of all 1950 ACP funds allocated to the county. It also enables the Treasury Department to get out checks to farmers before the annual rush period at income tax time. ’ ’ 1 Not all farmers participating under' the program receive cash payments, the Chairman rioted. A large number have already relime,
fertilizer, and seed through purchase orders issued by PMA, Nevertheless, Mr. Barksdale explained, farmers must report the l use they have made of conservation materials advanced by PMA. j: Rappahannock county farmers will begin signing 1951 ACP worksheets on January 2, 1951.
