4,062 Virginians To Get
Draft Tests In January
A total of 4,062 Virginians have been ordored op for physical examination during January by State Selective Service headquarters, according to a dispatch from Richmond Wednesday, December 27.
The call is designed to meet the state’s February induction quota of 1,699 men..
Rappahannock is called on for 14 men.
Richmond’s three draft boards were called for the largest number 241. Other calls in surrounding neighborhoods are: Madison 16,- Fauquier 69, Page 28, Culpeper 18, Warren 82, Fairfax 22, Greene 0, Prince William 15, Rockingham 84, Clarke 25, Frederick 37, Loudoun 48, Orange 18, Shenandoah 23, Albemarle 29, and the City of Charlottesville 85.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hofer, of Washington, D.C., have purchased from George Jenkins the thirtysix acres known as “Mountain Field,” formerly a part of the Walton Wood farm, lying opposite the home of Aiher Brown on highway 600, two miles from Sperryville in Jenkins Hollow.
Mr. Hofer is with the Social •Security section of the Security Administration iwith offices in Baltimore. He and Mrs. Hofer plan to ipprove the property with a new road, landscaping and a log cabin .equipped with electricity and waterworks.
Mrs. Hofer is from Mississippi. The eouplf will be an asset to Rappahannock county as they will spend their iweek-ends and vacation in their new mountain home.
