Prettyman has been named Northern Virginia Power • Company's farm, representative and will be available to farmers in this area for free Assistance with their farm electrical applications., Prettyman will be working in with, George Mullan, Northern Virginia’s farm supervisor, well-known ih thi« section for his work with the annual Four State Farmers’ Meeting, Farm Tour, and other activities.
The utility company’s new farm •representative brings to the job a wealth of experience, holding two degrees in agriculture froo* the University of West Virginia, having five ywirs of teaching experience in the field of agriculture and having spent some time as a practical, working fanner. He was graduated from the University of West Virginia in 1940 with a B.S. degree in agriculture, and, following his military service eras appointed by the Jefferson County, West Virginia, Board of Education to teach Veterans’ Farm Training in Charles Town. After serving in this post, he was named to the teaching staff of Charles Town High School where he headed the Vocational Agriculture staff and. advised 4he local Future Farmers of America Club.
Prettyman returned to the University of West Virginia in 1949, and one year later, was awarded his Masters Degree in Agricultural Education.
Northern Virginia Power Company's local manager, F. J. Haines announced Prettyman’s appointment and stated that farmers or farm groups that wish to contact the new farm representative may do so by calling Lur&y 206 or the nearest office of the utility company.
