Among those renovating large pasture areas this month are Hazel mere. Farm, Reva; Ralph Ingersol, Castleton; Dick iBaridon, Estes; K. H. Quasebarth, Woodville; and Ray T. Cannon, Castleton.
A system of rotational grazing will be established on all of the farms. Four to eight boundaries will be provided to facilitate moving cattle from one field to another every week, the time depending on the number of cattle in the herd and the size of the field. Agricultural research indicates that rotation grazing makes for better pasture utilization as well as more animal gains and more production. The ‘ Culpeper Soil Conservation District is now receiving requests from farmers for wildlife seeds and plants to establish food patches. Planting materials are available at the Culpeper office of the Soil Conservation Service. Farmers are encouraged to prepare their seed and plant beds NOW for the perennial plantings, such as Bicolor and Serecia Lespedezas.
