Washington’s scenic lady-mayor was in attendance at a Chamber of Commerce banquet in a neighboring town recently. As she was introduced as one of the guests, the toastmaster said, “Would you mind standing again. I want our mayor to stand up at the same time. Look at the contrast!” It just so happened that the mayor of the town is as bald as a peeled onion. The occasion turned his face a couple of shades redder, but he was a good sport—he stood up. One of his neighbors said: to him, “Look, Mayor, if you don’t want to stand up by that other mayor, get out of the way, there are plenty here who would.”
