So long as we have continuing heavy defense spending and an unbalanced budget, we cannot afford to assume that there is no danger of inflation which will farther reduce the value of our already chrunlcen dollar.

The budget proposed by President Truman for the 1954 fiscal year estimated spending at 9.9 billion dollars
