Sunday Afternoon Concerts

Scheduled At Avon Mills ^

Sunday afternoon concerts will be held at Avon Mills, Washington, this summer, according to an announcement of the Blue Ridge Music Festival in a summer bulletin of the Fourth Annual Tour of the Virginia Symphony. Concerts will be held Thursday and Friday evening at Stuyvesant Barn during the weeks of the music workshop at Stuyvesant school Warrenton, from July 27 through August 23.

The bulletin announcing the tour for the orchestra carries a most complimentary tribute to William Haaker, conductor, stating: “The aristic accomplishment of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra cannot help but mirror the intellect and temperament of its founder and conductor, William Haaker, so based on a sincere and logical introspect as to reflect in itself the spiritual and all-powering significance of a living musical expression."

This will be the third summer that concerts have been held at Avon Mills. The first summer the Blue Ridge Music Festival workshop was held, also, at the converted mill; last summer the school portion of the program was transferred to Warrenton, as seems to be the plan for the coming summer.
