New Managers Take Over
Rappahannock News
Beginning October 1, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce S. Bowie have leased the Rappahannock News from Miss Lucy Catherine Bowie, owner.
The county paper was established exactly four years ago, October 1, 1949, and published the first issue November 3, 1949. The brother-sister team, Bruce and Lucy Catherine Bowie, had John M. Barber, Jr., as the third member of the newspaper force. Jack Barber is now one of Uncle Sam's Air Force printers, stationed in Luzon.
When Jack Barber went into the Air Force, Miss Louise Cloud, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Cloud of F. T. Valley, began her 'apprenticeship as linotype operator. Miss Cloud is on the jdb with the new managers, Mr. and Mrs.. Bowie.
Miss Lucy Catherine Bowie begins her new work October 5 as linotype operator with the Culpeper StarExponent.
