Amissville Carnival Draws
Over 3,000 Persons
More than 3,000 persons were estimated to have attended Amissville’s 2nd Annual Fall Festival and Carnival held last week.
The town’s volunteer firemen, operating the carnival for local fire department benefit, declared the event an outstanding success.
Over $450 was grossed by the food stand alone, selling hot dogs, hamburgers and coffee.
Louise Blackwell of Marshall, Va., with donation stub 1363 was given the grand prize of a Ford sedan.
Awards were won by six of the volunteer fire companies that paraded at Friday night's opening, from War- - renton, Madison, Orange, Franconia, Elkton and Washington.
War renton VFD won * the award for the best equipped apparatus; Madison for the best appearing engine; Orange for the best equipped truck; Franconia for best appearing uniforms; Elkton for longest distance and Rappahannock for oldest apparatus, a hand-drawn hose reef. Judges of the parade were Charles C. M. Green of Amissville and Chiefs Dick Comoy and W. H.
