The first annual Firemen’s Banquet honoring the members of the Amissville Fire Department, brought many boquets of congratulations to the Ladies Auxiliary to the Fire Department, who .sponsored the get-together Friday evening.
The banquet table, in a horseshoe Shape, was cleverly dotted with red and white candles. Through the center of the table ran loose sprays of box wood. Beside each setting was a red hatchet enclosing the menu. The candlelight heightened the effect of the George Washington Birthday set- - ting.
Following several minutes of informal conservation among the guests. Reverend Harold Thach Of the Amissville Methodist Church offered the invocation. Mrs. Floyd Hitt rendered a lovely selection, “America.* Visitors were introduced by President of the Amissville Fire Company, Thomas Tear. Neighboring departments represented included: Sperryville, Washington, Culpeper, Front Royal, Orange, Madison, Brandy, Washington, D. C., felkton, Franconia, Remington, The Plains and Warrenton.
