In verses 7-9 Jesus reveals Himself as the only Door. Now the Eastern shepherd is a 4-walled structure having only one entrance' into it. There is no shutter for the opening and after the shepherd leads his sheep into the enclosure he himself lies down across the opening forming the way of entrance into the Kingdom of God. Just as no enemy could get into the fold without crossing the body of the shepherd neither can any enemy get to you if you are one of the Lord's sheep without-crossing— His body as He is the door of entrance. Neither can a sheep get out of the fold without crossing the body of the shepherd so this also shows how secure we are in Christ. He is ready if necessary to give His life for the safety of the sheep and this He did on the cross that you and I might truly have this security and eternal life. * In verse 10 JeSus reveals His true mission in life.; that of coming to loose us from the bondage of sin and help us enter into the fulness of life.
Satan js always seeking to enslave us by various ways, but Christ came to loose us that we in turn might live an abundant life like on a higher plane than merely one of worldly honor and fame.
