RED CROSS under way for a Water Safety Program again in 1954. '
The Rappahannock County Chapter is organizing a Diaster Program with Bruce Bowie of Washington, as chairman. They plan to purchase sufficient equipment to take care of a disaster should one strike in our county. We read in the papers and hear over the radio -of tornadoes striking other localities ! and we in Rappahannock should bear in mind that one _could strike here. —The Red Cross Home Service is an immediate contact between a service man and his family in an emergency, whether the service man is stationed in the United States or overseas. This is one of the major services of the Red Cross. The Rappahannock County Chapter took care of many Home Service calls last year.
It costs money to give the citizens of Rappaannock these Red Cross services. We urge every citizen of Rappahannock these Red Crqss services. We urge every citizen to become a member of this great organization. It is hoped that all subscribers to the drive will be as generous as possible and try to increase their donations of last year. Our Red Cross Chapter is what we make it, so let’s have a chapter everyone can be proud of. We hope the 1954 slogan: “Answer the Call— Join and Serve” will reach every citizen in the county.

_Miss -Phyllis Updike of Madison College spent the fceek end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Updike. ' Miss Eda M. Finks was a dinner guest on Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mitchell. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gallihugh spent Wednesday in Waynesboro on business. J. T. Galliugh and son, Jeffrey, spent several days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gallihugh and Mrs. Gilbert Weakley. Mrs. C. R. Hite was a week-end guest of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Tyus, Jr., in Richmond, Mrs. Hke was accompanied to Richmond by Col. and Mrs. Williamson, who visited friends there. Miss Dolly Hite is in Richmond for several days on business.
