Council Discusses Local Problems
The Washington Town Council ip their January meeting held Tuesday night in the court house, discussed the town folders that are being planned under the direction of Mrs.’ T. M. Johnston. Suggestions were offered as to the material to be included and the form the leaf will take.
A three fold leaflet, the pamphlet will, according to tentative plans, include a brief history of the town, sketch of town landmarks and a map of the county, pointing out the comparative location of the town.
Road problems that had been discussed in the December meeting had been taken up with P. D. Cold iron, Resident Engineer, by Mayor Mrs. George H. Davis. Mr' Coldiron ^remarked that the rnuclwholes near Washington Cash Stoif, on Blue Ridge Avenue, and nealf the intersection of Middle anaGay Streets, were on personal property, however he would attempt to take care of both of these^ in particular the bad condition of the shoulders at the intersection.;
A motion was made and carried that the fixtures fOr the Christmas Tree not be loaned; it was reported that Mr. Clopton had torn down the "pronless roof.” The town television set, not working properly, will be checked when a television repair company is in town to work on other sets in the vicinity. Various smaller matters were considered by the council.
