Even if the biting dog appears to have rabies it should not be killed unless necessary, but should be locked up for a period of seien daysv This allows time for observation and prevents th'e animal’s escape if he does have the disease. An animal with rabies always dies within 10 days of beginning symptons. During the early stages of the disease it is often impossible to determine whether or not animal is infected, but if it dies or is killed late in disease laboratory diagnosis is fairly easily. Do not shoot the animal through the head or hit him on the head as the brain only is- used for laboratory diagnosis.
If a wild animal bites a domesticated one, it is advised to confine the animal bitten until an examination can be done on animal doing biting.
