According to a statement from E. Roland Harriman, chairman of the American Red Cross: j
“The Red Cross has sent into six-state flood areas over 260 trained disaster workers to assist chapters in meeting the emergency needs. v i' r“v;"
“At this hour, American! Red Cross is operating 107 shelters, housing and feeding 12,000 homeless and providing cjothinfc to everyone who needs it. o ' “Following initial appropriation of two million dollars have informed President Eisenhower and Governors of states concerned, that Red Cross will make additional apppropriations as needed and wiH continue to assist disaster stricken families until the job is finished.
