1 here seems to oe some misunderstanding about what happened Sunday afternoon when the Rescue call came in from above Spertyville.
We had the call around five p.m. that a woman had broken her . hip and needed to be taken to the hospital. • Now right -here is where I get my Irish up—some one made a statement that there were no rescue squad members Acre and the ones who went out shouldn’t have done so.
Do they mean that if all the members were out of town and a call came in die car should stay there. That must be what they mean. With the help of Charlie Estes we made it over the road that had been torn up by high water. Charlie did more to help us than we can ever thank him for.
It would be pretty bad if it had happened up here because some folks here don’t seem to do anything but criticize what others are trying to do.
Charlie Esites went out of his way to do all he could and Lyle Rector from Flint Hill came over to help all he could—Yet there are people who sit up on the corner and say things about the men who Were not members but saw it was their duty and answered the call.
I am thankful we still have men who will do things and try to help their fellow man.
Folks we can’t live without one another and team work. If you can’t help by going or by belonging to helpful organizations, and you can’t say something useful about them, then keep your mouth shut. It is hard “enough to keep things going and we don’t appreciate people sitting around thinking and talking about things they don’t try to help with.
Another thing I want to say— the siren on the rescue car is not * on there for looks. We don’t blow it just to make a noise. It is on there to Warn drivers to give the right of way for an emergency.
Most out-of-state cars do pull over and stop, and in Front Royal they will yield the right of way, ( but so many of our local drivers will just ignore the siren—be it on the Rescue Car or the Fire
