Supply wise, the record r|un of hogs is beginning to slow down, but only slightly. Real reductions in marketing will not begin for another two weeks or so. | With plenty of cheap beef and plenty of turkeys during thej holidays hog prices probably wiljl not begin to respond to smaller supplies until January.
Richmond prices last week leveled off a little at $12.50, witi the Virginia auction average down 30 cents at $12.30. Suffolk-Smithfield ran $11.50 to $11.75 through the week.
Western markets also leveling off some topped at $11.50 to $11. 75, but good hogs could be had for as low as $10.
TURKEYS
Don't sell your turkeys short this week. There will probably be some more increase: in price now until Christmas.
Prices advanced 2 cents in the valley last week, reaching 34 to 35 cents for hens, 27 to 28 cents for toms and 28 to 29 cents for light breeds.
