Miss Catherine Perry, rural arts specialist from VPI met with a group of women1- to discuss the marketing of home made craft articles, recently in the Rappahannock County Court House. There was a small collection of san^ples of various kinds of hand work, and these were judged and scored by the women, and then each one was appraised by Miss Perry. She pointed out the good points in each sample and made helpful suggestions for improvement, and for packaging. Novelty toys are the items most likely to sell, according to Miss Perry, and she showed example's of the kinds that are sell in? in tourists centers through out Virginia.
A ^committee was selected to find a suitable place to hold a bazaar type market about three or four times a year, as it was thought that there would not be enough volume to warrant a full time market. The committee meets at the court house next week to work out an outlet for local talent; and a financial return can be worked out.
Ladies who can sew on stuffed tovs or make attractive babv clothes or children’s wear can find a ready market for their goods. This may meet a long felt need for a source of income for the housewife who must stay at home and who desires to increase her familv income. Home Demonstration Clubs are backing the proiect b'it the individual who makes rhe articles will get the benefit.
