Spring is on the horizon and a little over the top is the tenth annual Neighborhood Art Show sponsored by the Hunter Smith * Chapter of the women’s Auxiliary of ' Grace Church, The Plains, Va. The dates are May 10, 11, 12. Mrs. Jack L. Middleton is Chairman and Mrs. Harry Lennon is co chairman.
The purpose of the Neighborhood Art , Show, while raising funds for worthv objectives of the Auxiliary, has always been to encourage the creation and appreciation of art amount: th(* initiated and the uninitiated in the Northern Virginia area. The exhibition has won the reputation of being the best artists kindly help with, a friendly, intelligent show which exhibit in and come to, and the timid souls who insist thev cannot draw a streight line and have no understanding of purple cows, find surprisingly comprehensible and revealing. People who have considered themselves all thumbs, after a visit to the Neighborhood Art Show, have been known to go home and “dabble”; with amazing results.
This year, there are five classes for adults: 11) Oils; (2) Water Colors: (3) Drawings; (Monochromes) (4) Pastels; ID Miscellaneous, including ceramics. sculture, serigraphs and lithogronhs. There are two clas ses for children of school age; the Junior Class for 'ages six through twelve, and the Teen Class for thirteen to sixteen. All work muse be original and must be framed and ready to hang. Adults are limited to one entrv in each of two classes and Juniors and Teens to on«- entry onlv.
