Rappahannock

u.Little Waters’’

by Louemma C. Moffett

What has happened to Rappahannock’s “Little Waters”? Something has- that’s sure, because there are those in the vicinity of “The First Washington of All” who remember when Rush River was wide and deep, deep enough to float a small sea worthy boat, manned by •it’s young builder from the Fodder Stack crossing to the Mt. Salem crossipg, without grounding- “Believe it or not”.

Could that be done now? If not, what’s the reason?

Young sailors have missed a lot of fun, along with youthful fisherman, who sometimes now walk long distances to find a fishing hole because the “Little Waters’” that were many, near and greatly loved (Rush River is just a ten minute walk from town) are disappearing.
