At Once For S. S.
Although many disabled people in the Rappahannock area have already applied to have their social security records frozen, many more may lose valuable social security protection if they do not apply before July 1957.
This warning came from Robert Parsons, Assistant Manager of social security in Alexandria. He explained that an application filed before July 1957 by a disabled worker could be effective as of the time his disability- actually started if certain work requirements Were met at that time. Alter June 30, 1957, a disabled person cannot freeze his social security record for a period beginning earlier than 1 year before the date he applies for the freeze. This means that many workers who have been disabled for a long time will not be able t(V get their record frozen if they do not apply before June 30, 1957.
Any person who is severely disabled and who worked regularly in work covered by social security before coming disabled should contact the . social security district office ot see the social security representative when he visits this area.
