Over one and a half million Virginia motor vehicle owners received a notice from the Division of Motor Vehicles explaining the new uninsured motorist law which affects every owner when he applies for his 1959 license plates.

The law, passed by the General Assembly last spring and effective l&st October 1, requires the owner buying license plates to pay an additional $15 fee unless he can show he carries liability insurance in at least the artjpunts of $10/20, 000 bodily initffy $1,000 property damage with/ an insurance^cotnpany licensed to do business in Virginia. , /

The purpose of the notice is to enable the owner of a Virginia registered motor vehicle to obtain the necessary information and to have it available for use when he next purchases his plates. No action on the part of the individual owner is required until he next purchases license plates.
