If we were given the opportunity or the responsibility to hold an atomic bomb, we would be very careful to handle it with care. We would use all precaution to sec that its power was not j released at the wrong time or place. The word of God can prove to be very destructive to those who handle it carelessly or without divine guidance. Every person who approaches the word of God must realize that it is quick and’ powerful. Quick means that which has life. Only those who have been quickened and made alive by the power of God can draw upon thie great reservoir of power contained thereiij.
The Psalmist said, “This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quicked me.” Ps. 119: 50. It was due wqrd of God that brought discomfort and conviction to David when he had committed a sin against Godjby having Uriah put to death. It was, the word of God, spoken through Nathan the ‘ prophet, that broujght conviction to his heart. Not until David repented of his sin against God could he find strength and ‘comfort in God’s word. i '' ■
