By projecting the overall rate of population decline we now have 3901 persons 14 years and older. If we assume: all of those 15-19 years df age are in schcjol, that all persons 65 years or older are not available for employment, and allow the "employed” definition to stand as it is, there are! 1322 persons remaining that m.ght be considered as being of an employable age. Within this age 20-64 yrs.) there are 40 people on Welfare (including mothers of dependent children) with an estimated 35 on Social Security which miust also be deducted, leaving 124?j people of employable age beside, those employed in agriculture, construction, retail trade, etc. Among these 1242 persons are included the mothers of our children. There are 1220 families, but lets keep ip mind there are but 650 kids below school age. At two per family it might be assumed that 325 mothers have to stay home with -the babies.
Thus there appears to be labor available for industry Without pulling any labor presently employed whether they be working on farms, in your homes, as domestic servants or where. i j Then too, there are 240 farms that harvest less than a total 30 acres of crops.
