District Forester, D. G. Wilfong, Jr. of the Northern Pied-, mont District said that the forest fire weather in this csction.of.Vir• gtnia usually apes not end under normal conditions until the middle- T, of May. Wilfong said that this year so far more forest fires have been reported than previous years since 1943. 'He also said since all of the trout streams are in heavily woodland areas the danger of escaped forest fires is greater than in other types of fishing 'areas.
The Division of Forestry asks the cooperation of all fishermen in assisting in fire prevention while in or near the woods. Also, a reminder to all campers that open air fires are unlawful before 4:00 p.m. until May ,15th.
