Sperryville firemen report record attendance at the annual carnival held last weekend. The parade consisted of some sixty units from as far away as Louisa. _
Business at the food stand was greater than ever, which is understandable since the ladies have 'an excellent reputation, especially for their box suppers sold on parade night. *
Miss Shirley Brown, with a total of 6,367 votes, was-crowned queen Saturday evening by Miss Virgie Atkins, queen of the 1958 carnival. Miss Brown is-the daughter of Mrs. Catherine Brown of Sperryville. Miss Cassie Coates, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Coates was second in the contest. '
