Dewey Harris, our R.cbmond Paper Company Representative, said the rains in southern Virginia Kad all but ruined the truck gardens, including his, so he can t enter the tomato, etc. contests that usually come up around here, how-, ever he promised to bring us one of his watermelons. - The Fairfax Safety Council is -running a contest for the best .printable name for discourteous drivers.
The National Safety Council tells us the Germans have a new machine which is placed in taverns. An imbiber inserts about^ 12 cents cranks in his weight, how. many drinks he has had and the tjne spent in drinking them. The mchine is then sunnosed to ree srer whether he 'is drunk and if so. how long it will take him to sober up. (Does that mean H he stays in the tavern?) '• ;
