A Tribute To
A. C. Latham
Rappahannock County lost ah able public servant upon the death of Armistead Clifford Latham, July 6. 1959. First elected supervisor for Jackson Magisterial District in 1935, he served the people of his district faithfully over-a period of nearly 24 years, being elected six times successively. He was never too busy to discuss'the problems of his constituents and he was always interested in their welfare and that of the County.
“Mr. Cliff ”, h'- vav. affectionately kno w, to !;is many' friends in all parts of Virginia, also served Rappahannock County as member of the Board of Public Welfare, being appointed in February 1946 to fill the unexpire 1 term of W. G. Wood; and he also accepted the unpleasant but essential duties as a member of the Local Draft Board and served his country in this capacity through two wars. .
In business he was recognized as a farmer, merchant and as a director of the Rappahannock National Bank of Washington, Virginia. He was respected not only in public and business life but as a devout Christian, always willing to lend a helping hand to any worthy cause or person in need.
Rappahannock County may take pride in the accomplishments and the record of one of its most faithful public servants.
