Early in December, 1916, a .terrible storm lathed the shores North and South Carolina-?, and Florida__.washing out roads, desttoying, bridges and bringing much distress to fanjiilies in the coastal towns. It was! next.to impossible to get anywhere. If you wanted to get out or in, you had to drive for miles to find a bridge it was safe to cross on.
Among the few homes that were spared was that of ah elderly couple who lived on a piece of “high ground”, as the old Southern gentelman loved to call his home.
