In the living room were many paintings and portraits, hand decorated pillows0and in the windows many flowering plants. I told the lady that she had three familiar plants such as we have, the daily blooming begonia, English ivy and hyacinths. This was an unusual farm as they raised no cattle, pigs or horses. They' raised hens and field crops for feed.
On the way home we Visited a church built by Bishop Absolem’s brother in the early 1100’s, with original paintings on the plastered walls, painted pulpit, coats of arms of the local lords of the manor house painted on wood.
Everyone here has been so kind and I have been invited out to coffee so many times, I don’t know just how I can ever repay so much hospitality, but I am giving people bulletins from VPI on the subjects they ask for as often as possible.
I was greatly surprised and touched when the headmaster of one of the schools asked me to attend the assembly program on my last day there, and presented me with a little gift, “to remember them by’’, a silver spoon with “Anchor-house” on the handle. I returned to Copenhagen Wednesday to take further work with the extension and University folks.
