Inspite of the wind-beaten, rainpacked snow, Rappahannock Hounds met at the farm of Mr. a:*! Mrs. Elzy Brown onthecohl bright morning Of February 20.
A field of 17 riders gingerlypicked their way through the* woods, as the pack made admirable efforts to find-a track on the glazed hill sides. After more than an hour, hounds hit on Hitt JMt. (a very “hitty” area, as all local foxhunters know....-.Ugh!) Two of the hounds short cut to ai' recent track and were off. When the line was confirmed, Ollie Dodson, the Huntsman, cast the rest of the. pack into the lead dos; there followed a fast race for about fifteen minutes to the west end of Ed Duncan’s farm. Here the fox crossed the cold, hard road which broke the scent and hounds lost.
Three hunters deserve mention. They are all Juniors, all on ponies. First, Little Oliver Brown, who • modestly and quietly goes everywhere his father goes...._and that is over every fence he comes to! In fact, little Oliver looks like a small accurate shadow following his father. The second is young Teddy Hunt, who. has become buoyanty enthusiastic on his fast ponyr takContinuei on page ten .
