Updike near Washington, Va., won second place i in the 4-H,Livestock Judging Con- j test, held in connection with the ; International Livestock Exposition i at Chicago. He judged classes of ; beef cattle, swine and sheep last ! Friday and on Saturday received > a $400 U.S. Savings Bond award ; from Armour and Company. Lyle ; lives on a 200-acre farm and carries 4-H projects in sheep, baby j beef, swine and beef cattle.
With a total score of 1,457 , points, the Virginia Team won : first place in a field of 30 champi- ; on teams from 29 other states. Coached by County Agent John Gerken of Berryville, the team, ! in addition to Lyle, consisted of \ John Gano, White Post; Danny Mclntire, also of White Post; and : Richard Coleman of Amelia.
