As usual. Rappahannock News has fouixl the current Virginia Journal of Education interesting and helpful. A most interesting feature to all citizens of Rappahannock and especially all teachers of the county, is the VEA Honor Roll. Rappahannock is right there on it. hiftytwo counties are listed. Norfolk County headed the list, with Scott County second and the ■'City of Roanoke third in VEA membership. Many in Rappahannock County will remember Mr. Alonza B. Haga, who was a member of the Washington High School faculty some years ago. He is now a Division Superintendent. The Virginia Journal of Education carried an account of a school meeting in Mecklenburg County at which Superintendent A. B. Haga presented 19 new teachers to. the Pre-school Conference of the Bluestone High School. Mr. Haga proposed for all teachers during 1960-61, united dedication to the improvement of instruction.
Virginia, again moves into the lead in anothter area of participation in the use of federal funds for education. In the last 18 months, Virginia Colleges have received wore than two million dollars in federal money for student loans. The Virginia total is almost twice as great as that of the average state which is $1,17a,000.
