Auxiliary Meeting
The Board of Culpeper Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will meet on January 11 at 2:00 p.m. at the hospital instead of its regular December meeting. The annual membership meeting will remain on January 26 at 8 KX) p.m. at a place to be determined later. At this time new officers and five new board members will be elected. Mrs. R. M. Willis, board president, urges all members to atttend this meeting.

Telephones Make A
Tremendous Gain
Telephones of the world underwent a tremendous gain o f 8,800,000 in the year of 1959, so says the January 1, 1960 report of the World’s Telephones, according to Manager H. E. Lindsey of - the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company of Virginia.
He «rnt on to say that the year 1959 had the largest phone gain, it exceeded by a million those phones added in. any previous year. The United States accounted fornearly half of all the telephones added.
At the beginning,"of the year 1960 the' world’s telephones had risen to 133.6 million. The United States continues to account for more than half of the telephones in serivce in the world an has 17 times as many telephones in proportion to population as the rest of the world.
Also revealed in the report was that telephones practically doubled during the decade from 1950 to 1960; for Asia it trebled.
Canadians are still the greatest phone talkers averaging 530.3 conversations pet persons per year.
