Carnival A Success
Rappahannock Rescue Squad is pleased with the success of their first carnival which was held last weekend. In spite of the rainy, cool weather, the parade Thursday night was very good and enjoyed by all. .Afternoon showers kept some of the expected units away. Gross receipts for the three nights amounted to $1,772.54.
In the parade awards were made as follows: best appearing pumper from town over 500 population went to Culpeper and best appearing pumper from town under 500 population to Marshall with Sperry ville placing second. Fire company coming longest distance was Middletown. Best appearing Rescue Squad, Flint Hill; Culpeper second; Best appearing Rescue Squad including Civil Defense, Nokesville; Best appearing Ladies Auxiliary, Amiss-ville; Best Majorette group Warrenton; Marshall, second; Best Rodeo Arena, Luray; Best appearing Honorary Fire Chief, Sperryville.
