Man Found Dead
In Woods Sunday
A man, identified as Claude S. Harrell of Sperryville, was found dead Sunday afternoon in a wooded area on Route 211 in Amissville. Stanish Riley came upon the body as he was walking through a lane. Trooper W. A. Buntin identified Harrell after the police Were alerted by Mrs. Sarah Latham, who lived nearby.
Harrell had been trying to catch ’a ride home late Friday afternoon, according to Ned Stringfellow, at whose garage he stopped seeking transportation.
He was last seen by Nancy Latham as he crossed the road in front of her house.
An autopsy was performed but a report is not yet available, however it is believed that Harrell died of a heart attack. He had a history of high blood pressure.
House Tour Set
For October 21-22
Remember th House Tour and Dried Flower Arrangement Sale which will be held Saturday and Sunday, October 21-22, under the sponsorship of the Episcopal Churchwomen of Bromfield Parish. A good way to get a head start on your Christmas shopping is to tour" the three lovely and interesting homes on display and buy some dried arrangements. One lady we know hos already purchased some for bridge prizes. The salesroom for flower arrangements will be at Avon Hall. Tae will also be served there.
If you wish to make your own arrangements, dried flowers and foliage will be on sale at the Parish hall.
Homes to be toured are Avon Hall and Mt. Prospect both in Washington, Va. and Wakefield Manor at Huntly, Va.
Family Reunion Held
Members of the Putman family held a reunion Sunday at the home of Mrs. Noah Putman in Limeton with over thirty five present. Among the Rappahannock guests present were Mr. and Mrs. Herndon Hudson and family, Ernest Eubank, Mr. and Mrs. John Eubank, Jr., Mrs. Frances P. Eubank and John Eubank, Sr. .»
