May Correct Records
For ex-service | men and women who want to correct inaccuraceis or injustices in jtheir military or naval records which make them ineligible for veterans’ benefits, time is running out. j
Generally, the deadline for an application to correct an alleged error or injustice in armed forces records is October 25, 1961, or within three yealrs after discovery of the alleged error or injustice, whichever is later. Written application by the veteran, his survivors, or legal representative should be made to the branch of service concerned on the proper form entitled “Application for Correction of Military or Naval Record.” The boards which act on these applicatioins
are Civilians who are authorized to correct any record which in their judgment is necessary to correct ajn error or remove an injustice. The original or copy of the discharge should be submitted along with k statement of the error or injustice, and, if applicable, the reason the veteran thinks the sentence was too severe for the offense committed.
