Shot In The Leg
A 16-year-old Fairfax County youth was struck in the leg by 45 pellets from a 12 guage shotgun fired by a 14-year-old boy, in a hunting accident at Blue Rid&e Mountain Estates, about six miles south of Front Royal Saturday at noon. Admitted to Warren Memorial Hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds of the left leg was Frank Gadd of Route 1, K a m p Washington, Fairfax County. Front Royal police identified the second youth as Richard Hannigan, 14, of 306 West Malbon Street, Fairfax.
Sgt. Charles V. Rutherford said the two youths were hunting rabbits on the Hannigan family property in Blue Ridge Mountain Estates, accompanied by Hannigan’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold B. Hannigan, when the accident occurred.
Sgt. Rutherford said the two boys were standing approximately 50 feet apart, when a rabbit ran between them, and Hannigan whirled and shot, striking Gadd in the left leg with number six shot.
Mr. and Mrs. Hannigan applied a tourniquet at the scene and brought the boy to a doctor in Front Royal. His condition is reported as satisfactory.

Moore Top Airman
Tachikawa AB—A-2c William A. Moore of the 6100th Civil Engineering Squadron was announced this week as the 6100th Support Wing’s Airman of the Quarter.
Moore, who has been in the Air Force little more than one year, was selected over the outstanding airmen of each squadron in the Wing. He has been in Japan eight months, being assigned here directly from technical school in the States. ' "Along with the citation accompanying his Airman of the Quarter award, Moore received a wrist watch and a $50 savings bond.
