It is also pointed out that invitations to parties, showers, and birth announcements and “thank you” notes that are not printed must all bear 4 cent stamps, sealed or unsealed. There has been some confusion and embarrassment over this. If unsealed invitations are mailed with only 3 cent stajngft they are rated with one cenf postage due which the recipient must pay to get it The fact that invitations and announcements are personal messages and contain information as to date, place and hour makes them first class mail..

Printed “thank you” cards with only a name signed by hand may be sent unsealed for 3 cents, but this is seldom done for most people wish to express their thanks in a more personal manner.

Woman’s Missionary Union Week of Prayer for Foreign Missions begins December 3-7. Friday, December 7 is Baptist Women’s Day of Prayer around the world. Washington Baptist Church will be open each day, Monday through Frida/ at 2 p.m. You are invited to participate in this mission. Theme for the week is “God’s Gift—The Light of the World”.

Archie J. Dodson

Archie Jack Dodson of Sperryville, a merchant, died November 20, 1962 at Sperryville. He was 44 years of age. Mr. Dodson was a native of Rappahannock County, a son of the late William B. Dodson and Mrs. Monia Berry Dodson of Woodville, Va., who survives him.

He is also survived by his wife, Mrs. Elsie Jenkins Dodson, three sons, Terry Lee, Richard Arnold and Archie J. Dodson, Jr., all of the home address; two daughters, Lisa Gail Dodson, at home and Mrs. X. M. Anzmann of Baltimore, Md.; two sisters, Mrs. Netus Brown of Sperryville and Mrs. Elmer Bowling, Fredericksburg, Va.; three brothers, James, A. and Charles B. Dodson, both of Sperryville and W. Wilson Dodson of Lanham, Md.; and three grandchildren.
