‘Bleak Hill’ Charms Visitor

A charming' and interesting place is “Bleak Hill,,, a hunting lodge in Harris Hollow near Washington, Va. Built and owned by Henry Gore of Fredericksburg, who retired from the Navy as Chief Pharmacist’s Mate after serving 23 years, it combines comfort and excellent taste.
After warming one’s self at the beautiful field stone open fireplace surrounded by marble laid by Mr. Gore himself, one’s eyes wander to the objects attractively displayed about the place. Besides some lovely pieces of Early Americana, one sees a Chinese abacus, Hawaiian hula skirts, Japanese shoes, a papoose basket, a leopard and black-faced squirrel skin and many, many other things gathered from around the world. It intrigues the imagination of anyone not having seen the far away places represented there and must be a delightful way of refreshing the memories of a travelled man.
